3. Setting Up Argus/Radius

3.1 Setting The Default Outbound Zone

You need to setup the default outbound zone. That can be found in
Config -> Paths as shown in Figure 15 below:
Figure 15.
By default, Argus comes with it's Default Outbound Zone set to 2. Change it to 1 as show in
Figure 16 circled in red.

Figure 16.

There is no need to worry about the Special directories as they can
remain exactly as shown.

3.2 TCP/IP Daemon Config

This is probably the hardest part of setting up FidoNet with Synchronet.
Refer closely to Figures 17 through 20.

Figure 17.

The one thing taken out of this screen from the default is Telnet Port 23.
As that is used for Synchronet. Make sure the rest are as Figure 18.

Figure 18.

This is the main setup for Argus identification. Make the following changes:

Station name : Your BBS Name
Address list : 1:229/99.0@fidonet (This is the important change. You need to enter
the temporary node number assigned by the NC instead of 1:229/99.0 You will
also change this to your new FidoNet node number when it is
	    assigned to you.
Sysop name : Doh! This one is obvious :)
IP address : Your current IP address. If this changes, you need to update this.
Most *DSL or Cable access doesn't change this too often.
Only Dial-up connections really change al lot. You can also use an FQDN.
Flags : These must be exactly as shown.

Figure 19.

Under Restrictions on the Required tab, you need to insert TCP as in
Figure 19 above.

Figure 20.

In Figure 20, you need only the following entries:
Node Overrides
2 1:229/2000 : "hub2000.darktech.org",TCP,CM,IBN,BND [Note: Replace 1:229/2000 with the uplink as given to you by the NC in his reply to your E-Mail when you requested a Password and Node Number to use as a temporary node number]
The other entries are not required for your system.

3.3 Passwords

Figure 21.

While you are first setting up as your temporary Node number, , the
password will need to be the one assigned by the NC. The password
is CASE SENSITIVE. Important: Make sure you set up this password
for the node number assigned in E-Mail as being your Uplink not the
one here as in Figure 21 above.

3.4 Externals

Figure 22.

The only External that needs to be set up at this point in time is Postprocessors.
Refer to Figure 22.
Windows 9x/Me:

  Mask list String to execute
1 %ARCMAIL% :? c:\windows\command.com /c echo !! > c:\sbbs\data\fidoin.now 2 *.PKT :? c:\windows\command.com /c echo !! > c:\sbbs\data\fidoin.now
Windows NT/2000/XP:

  Mask list String to execute
1 %ARCMAIL% :? echo !! > c:\sbbs\data\fidoin.now 2 *.PKT :? echo !! > c:\sbbs\data\fidoin.now
Note: Both commands are the same.

That will trigger the FIDOIN event

3.5 Polls

Referring to Figure 23 below, you will be setting up a poll after getting your
official node number except using the node number assigned as your
uplink in your E-Mail instead of 1:229/2000 as shown. (Unless you were
assigned 1:229/2000 as your uplink <g>)

3.6 Nodelist

If you have already unzipped the setup.zip, then you can set up the nodelist
for Argus to use. Refer to Figure 24. for details.

Figure 24.

Of course substitute your path to the nodelist.
Now go to Tool -> Compile Nodelist. Argus will ask you if it okay to compile
the Nodelist. Click on Yes.
